Percy

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Percy is one for the Bully lovers! He is very typical of his breed, and can get mouthy when overexcited so is learning to direct these behaviours towards his toys. He travels brilliantly in the car and loves getting out for his fun and exciting adventures! He can be strong on lead, but loves to sniff around new environments. He is house-trained and tries to keep his space as clean as possible. Percy loves being around his pals, so would prefer for his new family to be home most of the time at first to help him settle in. Percy will need a garden to be able to have a good sunbathe and explore at his own pace. He can be spooked, so would love gentle and caring owners to show him predictability. Meet Percy, the most handsome 3.5-year old Bully X looking for his forever home! Percy would like to be the only dog in the home, as he doesn't like to share his toys with them but is happy to go for nice parallel walks with other dogs. He would be looking for a home where all children are at least older secondary school age that are comfortable around big, boisterous dogs. Percy is a handsome boy, who loves to chill on the sofa with you whilst he has a chew on his toys. He can get overexcited quite quickly, so would love a bully experienced owner that is used to mouthy behaviour and willing to manage this. Percy loves the people he meets, especially if you have a toy or some treats to offer! He would prefer a quieter home, as he can get a bit worried by louder, busier environments. Percy would love a patient, understanding family that are willing to work on training with him. He loves his food, and works well for low value as well as toys. Percy is a super sweet boy, who will thrive with the right home!

About Percy

What life with Percy looks like

Percy is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Dogs Trust Cardiff in Cardiff.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Percy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Percy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Cardiff handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Percy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Percy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Cardiff will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Percy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Percy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Cardiff early rather than rehoming privately; they know Percy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
