Adopt Barnabis

Mixed Breed · Male · 5 months

Meet Barnabie. He arrived at the end of January. Then he immediately left the clinic. Barnabis was found tied to a car. The puppy received help only after a couple of days. When Barnabis arrived at the clinic, he could not walk, he couldn't control his hind legs - his spine was broken. We waited impatiently for news from the clinic and hoped that we would still be able to give Barnabie a chance to have responsible and loving owners. And the chance came! But the price of this chance was high. Barnabie had spinal surgery. For 1.5 months he has been living in the clinic's hospital, and rehabilitation started last week. The dog receives massage, laser therapy, and hydrotherapy several times a week. One week of rehabilitation costs about 350€, and the total cost of the operation and hospitalization is already over 2000€. Yes, it would have been cheaper to euthanize, but what is the price of life then? Up to what amount is it worth fighting? We choose to fight to the end, and we very much hope that with your help we will manage to collect the necessary amount to pay the bill. Rehabilitation works!

Tik to šanso kaina didelė. Iki kokios sumos verta kovoti? Mes renkamės kovoti iki galo, ir labai tikimės, kad su Jūsų pagalba mums pavyks surinkti reikiamą sumą sąskaitai apmokėti Reabilitacija veikia!

About Barnabis

What life with Barnabis looks like

Barnabis is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at SOS Gyvūnai in Šalčininkų r. sav..

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇱🇹Adopting from Lithuania

Frequently asked

Adopting Barnabis, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Barnabis?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SOS Gyvūnai handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Barnabis on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Barnabis if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SOS Gyvūnai will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Barnabis already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Barnabis isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SOS Gyvūnai early rather than rehoming privately; they know Barnabis and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (LT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
