Barney

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel · Male · Puppy · 6 months

Age: 2026-01-03 Sex: Male Breed: Cavalier King Charles Spaniel/Poodle mix Neutered: No Contact person: Team 1 Adoption fee: 11,000 SEK Forwarded from: Limerick Animal Welfare Currently located: Foster home in Värmland Can live with dogs: Yes Can live with cats: Not sure Can live with children aged: 14 years and up Suitable environment: Can live in a quieter area Activity level: Medium Adopter's dog experience: Has dog experience previously Barney and Betty were rescued from a puppy mill in Ireland and have been safe in a foster home in Sweden for some time. They have had time to settle, develop, and start showing who they are. Barney is a happy and lively boy with a lot of energy and curiosity. As he has become more confident, he dares to take charge and becomes more active. He likes toys and the most fun is to bite them apart! He is happy on his walks and gets excited when the leash comes out. He demands a lot of attention from the foster mother as he likes to lie close and be petted. He finds closeness and someone who cares about him fantastic and can't get enough of it. If the foster mother cares about another dog in the home, Barney is quick to show that he would also like some cuddles. He would probably prefer to be the family's only darling, or live with another dog that doesn't have the same need for confirmation. Barney is still a bit uncertain when you bend down to him or reach for him, but this has been trained a lot by the foster home and it gets better and better. He hesitates a bit about whether he should dare to approach an unknown person, but he has a positively large curiosity that ultimately takes over. To Barney, we are looking for a calm and stable home that wants to continue guiding him in life. Do you want to give Barney everything he deserves? Send an inquiry and tell us more!

About Barney

What life with Barney looks like

Barney is a medium-sized puppy/kitten cavalier king charles spaniel dog waiting at Hundar Utan Hem in Stockholm.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇸🇪Adopting from Sweden

Swedish shelters require an adoption application and home visit. Animals are chipped, vaccinated, and sterilized. Cross-border placements within the EU use the standard pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Barney, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Barney?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundar Utan Hem handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Barney on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Barney if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundar Utan Hem will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Barney already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Barney isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundar Utan Hem early rather than rehoming privately; they know Barney and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (SV). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
