Betty

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel · Female · Young · 1 year

Betty and Barney are two Cavalier King Charles Spaniel/Poodle mixes who were rescued from a puppy mill in Ireland. They have been in a foster home in Värmland for some time and have had time to settle, develop, and start showing their personalities. Betty is a kind and friendly soul. She has made great progress since coming to Sweden and is very happy when it's time for a walk. When the leash comes out, her tail starts wagging, and when outside, she is curious about all the sights and smells. She is gentle and likes to be close. However, she often gets overshadowed by Barney, who likes all the attention. Therefore, we think she would prefer to be a single dog or live with a calmer dog that is not as attention-seeking as Barney. Betty can still be insecure with sudden movements or when someone reaches for her. This has improved since the foster home has trained her, but it's taken at her own pace. Betty is looking for a calm and stable home, but preferably with someone who can let her meet safe dog friends. Do you want to give Betty a second chance? Send an interest form and tell us more!

About Betty

What life with Betty looks like

Betty is a medium-sized young adult cavalier king charles spaniel dog waiting at Hundar Utan Hem in Stockholm.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇸🇪Adopting from Sweden

Swedish shelters require an adoption application and home visit. Animals are chipped, vaccinated, and sterilized. Cross-border placements within the EU use the standard pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Betty, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Betty?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundar Utan Hem handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Betty on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Betty if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundar Utan Hem will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Betty already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Betty isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundar Utan Hem early rather than rehoming privately; they know Betty and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (SV). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
