Barney

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 3 months

Barney is a small dog boy who has unfortunately experienced the hardships of life at a young age. He was found alone and severely malnourished on the side of the road and was brought to safety in Fantanele. There, he is now being cared for and waiting for his life to finally turn around and find his own family. Initially, Barney is still a bit shy and cautious. No wonder, considering what the little man has already been through. But behind his initial reserve is an incredibly sweet and gentle puppy who can really enjoy the company of people. If you take him in your arms and give him a sense of security, he will snuggle up and even start wagging his little tail happily. Barney needs people who give him the time he needs to gain trust. With patience, loving attention, and many positive experiences, he will surely soon realize that he has nothing to fear. We wish for him a home where he can arrive at his own pace and experience safety and security. Since Barney is still at the beginning of his life, there is of course a lot to discover and learn. Housebreaking, walking relaxed on a leash, staying alone and the most important basic commands will initially still be new for him. His future people should therefore enjoy learning the dog ABC with him and show him with loving consistency how life in a family works. Beautiful walks, exciting trips and shared adventures should also eventually become part of Barney's daily life. But first and foremost, he needs people who give him a sense of security and show him that he can rely on them. Barney wants to become a happy and confident companion. We wish for Barney a loving home with people who appreciate his sensitive nature and give him the chance to leave his past behind. He should finally experience how beautiful a dog life full of love, care and security can be. Barney is age-appropriately vaccinated, chipped and has an EU pet passport. He will be placed in his new home after a positive preliminary check, with a protection contract and against payment of a deposit. Who wants to show Barney that the world also has a beautiful side? The little dog boy is waiting to get to know his people for life and finally arrive where he will never be alone again. Many thanks Denise for your sponsorship. Thanks to you, Barney has a gold name. Status: 22.08.2026 Further information on the preliminary check and deposit.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen!

About Barney

What life with Barney looks like

Barney is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Barney, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Barney?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Barney on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Barney if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Barney already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Barney isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Barney and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
