Adopt BARNI

Male · Young · 1 year

It was found on the street, with its mother and brothers. They are all together in a boarding. BARNI never had a chance to know the real home, and was already fighting for life. Between two vaccines, it got sick - the prognosis predicted bad news, but BARNI did not give up! It won and is now completely healthy, vaccinated and ready for what it has always been missing - love and security of a real family. It does not bark, it is of a good nature and quiet. It's just waiting for you to come close and immediately rolls over on its back so you can scratch its tummy. It loves to play and explore, it's a real sweetie and loves people and children, while being used to other dogs. Why should it grow up in a boarding, when it could be your best friend, someone who will wait by the door, wag its tail and share happiness with you every day?

Read original (sr)

About BARNI

What life with BARNI looks like

BARNI is a young adult cat waiting at Šape Smedereva in Smederevo.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇷🇸Adopting from Serbia

The shelter typically completes the animal's vaccinations, microchipping, and pet passport before adoption. Specific fees and process details vary by shelter and country — confirm directly via the contact details in the sidebar.

Frequently asked

Adopting BARNI, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about BARNI?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Šape Smedereva handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw BARNI on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt BARNI if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Šape Smedereva will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is BARNI already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if BARNI isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Šape Smedereva early rather than rehoming privately; they know BARNI and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (SR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
