Barnus

Shar Pei · Male

Details Name: Barnus Age: middle-aged Sex: male Admitted: 09.05.2022. Vaccinated: yes Microchipped: yes Neutered: (blank) Left shelter: (blank) Barnus was brought to the Kunhegyes animal shelter on 09.05.2022. Since then, unfortunately, not a single interested person has come forward for him. He badly needs help so that he can finally continue his life, which is not very happy at the moment, in a loving home. He's a bit headstrong, but at the same time he is one of the sweetest-faced dogs in the world, who longs for affection just like any dog anywhere. He is a middle-aged male shar pei mix with a pug nose, and it is really hard to resist his puppy-like eyes. He doesn't feel well being shut in; he would love to run around a beautiful garden until he tires out. He has a microchip and is vaccinated! We look forward to your introduction letter if you would give this big teddy-bear of a dog a chance.

About Barnus

What life with Barnus looks like

Barnus is a large adult shar pei dog waiting at Méda az Állatokért Kunhegyes in Hungary.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Barnus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Barnus?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Méda az Állatokért Kunhegyes handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Barnus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Barnus if I live in another country?: Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Méda az Állatokért Kunhegyes will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Barnus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Barnus isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Méda az Állatokért Kunhegyes early rather than rehoming privately; they know Barnus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
