Zena

Female

Details Name: Zena Age: younger Sex: female Admitted: 2022. 12. 30. Vaccinated: yes Microchip: yes Neutered/spayed: Left the shelter: Zena is the smiling little girl of the shelter, who is now in great need of help. December 30, 2022 marked the start of a new life for her, as this was the day she was freed from the captivity of her old "home." The iron barrel where she was chained could hardly be called a home, yet it was her only shelter when the wind blew and the rain beat down on her sad little face. A 50 cm chain was her only tie to this "home," because she received very little love and care. She waited faithfully for a rescuer, almost completely wound up in the chain, which left her barely able to move. When she arrived at the shelter, she immediately placed enormous trust in us, as she didn't make a sound while we freed her from the chains and cords that were cutting into her little body. She deserves a new chance in a loving family, where she no longer has to live tied up and shut in. She is still a young girl full of love, with her whole life ahead of her, but if she doesn't find a new home, only a sad fate awaits her, one she will simply have to resign herself to. She is grateful for every little thing; just getting food fills her with great happiness, as does having her own little house where she can lay her head down to sleep. We look forward to your introductory letter if you would like to adopt Zena, who longs for nothing but love and care.

Adatok Név: Zena Életkor: fiatalabb Nem: szuka Bekerült: 2022. 12. 30. Oltás: van Chip: van Ivartalanítás: Kikerült: Zena a telep mosolygós kislánya, akinek most hatalmas segítségre lenne szüksége. 2022.

About Zena

What life with Zena looks like

Zena is an extra-large adult dog waiting at Méda az Állatokért Kunhegyes in Hungary.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zena, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zena?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Méda az Állatokért Kunhegyes handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zena on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zena if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Méda az Állatokért Kunhegyes will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Zena already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zena isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Méda az Állatokért Kunhegyes early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zena and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
