Baron

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 13 years

Baron is a male German Shepherd-type dog born in December 2012, who was rescued from Vönöck along with his companion. They were kept on a chain, and the mayor of Vönöck requested our help, so Baron could finally be placed in a safe environment. Baron is an aging dog, his eyesight is not perfect, and his exercise needs are lower. He is a kind, friendly old gentleman who values quiet, peaceful days and the closeness of humans. We are looking for a loving owner who can give him the peace and security he really needs in his old age. We would like him to finally experience what it feels like to live not on a chain, but as a member of a loving family, where he can enjoy everyday life from the comfort of the couch, close to his owner, instead of long walks. You can inquire about him at the Szegé email address. Here he came from: More pictures HERE! The Like button requires cookies to be enabled. apiKey: 'f94a516b15dff4516ffa78eb8ba036f3076dfc68'

About Baron

What life with Baron looks like

Baron is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Noé Állatotthon in Budapest.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Baron, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Baron?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Noé Állatotthon handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Baron on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Baron if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Noé Állatotthon will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Baron already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Baron isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Noé Állatotthon early rather than rehoming privately; they know Baron and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
