Adopt Baron

Staffordshire Bull Terrier · Male · Adult · 4 years

Baron has already been brought to the animal shelter twice, or was picked up by us at the owner's request after biting incidents. The first time, we had a long conversation with the owner and urgently advised seeking professional help from a dog trainer. We saw quite a bit of positive potential and opportunities with Baron. Unfortunately, the owner did nothing of the sort, and another biting incident occurred. Again, we helped and spontaneously took in Baron. This time, the owner has shirked their responsibility and abandoned both Baron and us. Baron ultimately has issues that the owner is responsible for due to poor communication and lack of training. And now the animal shelter is bearing the costs, as the owner does not feel responsible for this either. So far, Baron has shown himself to be fairly unproblematic with us. In some situations, he can be a bit insecure, but if given a sense of security, he can handle unfamiliar situations well. Baron needs consistent rules and boundaries from the start; otherwise, he quickly becomes overly excited, pushy, and cheeky. Even though he behaves rather charmingly, we are certain that the situation would worsen again if he doesn't receive consistent guidance. Essentially, Baron is very sensitive and quickly adapts to new people. He accepts corrections without much fuss. However, like his breed, he has a stubborn side that he likes to push through. We are looking for dog-experienced individuals without children or other pets who are willing to attend dog training classes and show Baron the world and explain it to him. If you would like to meet Baron, please contact us using the contact form. Your name (required) Your email address (required).

Dein Name (Pflichtfeld) Deine E-Mail-Adresse (Pflichtfeld) Betreff Deine Nachricht

About Baron

What life with Baron looks like

Baron is a adult staffordshire bull terrier dog waiting at Tierschutzzentrum Ribbesbüttel in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Baron, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Baron?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzzentrum Ribbesbüttel handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Baron on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Baron if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzzentrum Ribbesbüttel will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Baron already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Baron isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzzentrum Ribbesbüttel early rather than rehoming privately; they know Baron and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
