Loui

Staffordshire Bull Terrier · Male

Loui came to us as a found dog, so unfortunately, we don't know much about his past. At the animal shelter, Loui is a dog who gets stressed easily and appears very insecure. In these situations, he shows a mix of "I cautiously back away" and "I quickly lunge forward." Once Loui leaves the shelter grounds and calms down, walking with him is generally quite relaxed. Loui hasn't had much training in his life so far, so his new people should ideally have experience with dogs and be motivated to learn more with him, preferably in collaboration with a trainer or dog training classes. When it comes to interacting with fellow animals, Loui is quite rough and physical. If there is already a fellow animal in his new home, it should be able to assert itself confidently. Of course, mutual affection would be crucial. There should not be any cats or small animals in the home. As described earlier, Loui is a skeptic. He needs some time to make contact with new people. Forming a bond and simply letting loose is still difficult for him. However, we are sure that once he gains trust, he will become a loyal companion, bringing a lot of joy. The young male dog wishes for active people in his new, quiet home who can set boundaries and lead him fairly. He would be happy if things are calm and he receives a lot of affection. Loui wants to be kept busy but also needs to learn to relax. Children should be at least teenagers and know how to handle dogs respectfully. Due to his breed, Loui is considered a so-called restricted dog, for which many federal states require certain conditions for keeping. Our shelter staff is happy to provide advice on this. Loui is outside the shelter; you can find him at "PitStaff&Co" under the name Nemo. If interested, we look forward to a detailed email with your phone number.

About Loui

What life with Loui looks like

Loui is a adult staffordshire bull terrier dog waiting at Tierheim Troisdorf in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Loui, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Loui?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Troisdorf handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Loui on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Loui if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Troisdorf will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Loui already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Loui isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Troisdorf early rather than rehoming privately; they know Loui and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
