Adopt Bárt

Male · Senior · 11 years

1/2025 Patience of rose brings and with Bárta it applies 100%, our colleague carefully earned Bárta's trust, and today Bárteček allows her to easily and without signs of fear to groom his fur, brush, trim the fur, and show affection. It's about trust. A person who won't push or rush Bárta can also gain him, we would be very happy if someone is found who tries to get into Bárta's heart, he deserves it!! 1/2024 Bárt was in foster care for a month, the couple, fans of the Chau-Chau breed, decided that they would definitely handle Bárta's more complicated character. Unfortunately, even unlimited love and kind approach towards Bárta didn't work and he repeatedly turned against his foster parents with his teeth... When it became clear that mutual coexistence did not do good, we agreed on returning Bárta to us. Bárt is definitely not a dog suitable for an apartment, he loves walks, gradually gets used to more frequent handling, but then needs his peace and space where he is not disturbed. Ideally, someone should be found, or at most a couple, who live in a house with a garden and have a secure area for the dog where he can rest undisturbed. Bárt was obviously not used to close contact with people, besides, putting a muzzle on him, collar is still very tense and he resists it. Handling is unpleasant for him and he clearly shows it. For a pat, he will come to you when he considers it appropriate, but he doesn't want unwanted touches or cuddling (for now, but there is still a lot of work to be done before this changes or maybe it won't...). 9/2023 Bárteček needs very patient owners, who will gradually introduce him to the world and everything that goes with it, part of this is also handling, Bárt is making small progress and we are very happy about it, it's a beautiful hound that surely will catch someone's eye. It's not a dog for everyone, we prefer rather individuals or a couple, with children it would not do good. It is suitable for a cottage with a garden. Bárt is an older mixed breed Chau-Chau used to living outdoors all year round. So far, we are gradually getting to know him. He came to us with unkept fur, so it needs to be taught to use a basket and regular brushing. So far, he seems like a calm dog. Bárt ended up with us the second week in July.

About Bárt

What life with Bárt looks like

Bárt is a medium-sized senior dog waiting at Útulek Zlín-Vršava in Zlín-Zlín 12.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bárt, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bárt?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Útulek Zlín-Vršava handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bárt on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bárt if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Útulek Zlín-Vršava will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bárt already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bárt isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Útulek Zlín-Vršava early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bárt and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (CS). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
