adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process BÄRt has found his home! His story: The wonderful BÄRt was found by our animal rescuer Simona on vacation. The handsome male dog apparently had no owner and was also not microchipped. Therefore, she simply took him along and then placed him in a private shelter until he was allowed to travel. Unfortunately, BÄRt had to wait there for a very long time, over a year… But now, the lively little guy finally has his chance and you can feel that he immediately grabs it by the horns 🙂 He is funny, in good spirits, gets along with all the other dogs, and is happy about every pat and word. BÄRt enjoys the short walks on the shelter grounds and is already looking forward to finding his own family. He can currently be visited and met at 86643 Rennertshofen. BÄRt has a great sense of humor and you can already see what else is still in him when he settles in. He is always ready for a joke 🙂 BÄRt is an approximately 4-year-old, handsome male dog with a great brown fur pattern. At about 50-55 cm and around 25 kg, he brings a pleasant, medium size. Perfect for all adventures. BÄRt has made great progress in the last few months. Now he shows everyone how great he is! He walks well on a leash, has overcome his shyness, and is now ready to discover the world. We wish BÄRt a loving home that shows him how an appropriate life works. He probably doesn't know life in a house and has a lot to learn. But he is a super smart little guy who absorbs everything and has fun with new tasks. A confident single dog could ease BÄRt's adjustment, but it is not a must. BÄRt would surely have a lot of fun visiting a positively working dog training class after an adjustment period. He is already looking forward to beautiful excursions in nature, but also to the pat sessions on the couch. BÄRt is a real buddy type with whom you will have a lot of fun and joy. BÄRt is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. He brings his EU Companion Animal Card and can be adopted after a positive match. Do you give your heart to BÄRt? Many thanks Felix! You gave BÄRt his name and thus an identity! As of: 25.11.

Stand: 25.11.2024

About BÄRt

What life with BÄRt looks like

BÄRt is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting BÄRt, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about BÄRt?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw BÄRt on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt BÄRt if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is BÄRt already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if BÄRt isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know BÄRt and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
