Bart

Mixed Breed · Male

Bart was found on the street Na Demetri in Košice, the district of Ťahanovce. When he arrived, he had a large number of ticks and was very stressed. He was afraid of the collar and leash, but interestingly, he walked nicely even without the leash around people. Gradually, he started to get used to it - today we can put a collar and harness on him, although he is still cautious and reacts sensitively to sudden movements or loud noises. With new people and in unfamiliar situations, he may react by cowering or uncertainty, but he is not aggressive. People he already knows can easily put the collar on him and he walks nicely on the leash. Sometimes during walks he stops and needs gentle motivation, but otherwise he does not pull and his activity level is appropriate. Bart is a very nice and affectionate dog. He really enjoys being petted and scratched, loves treats and likes to play with dog friends. He gets along well with other dogs and female dogs. In an indoor environment, he behaves politely, does not destroy things and has good hygiene habits with regular walks. Bart is looking for a home in an apartment or a house with access to a yard. He is suitable for people who understand a more sensitive dog and know how to approach him calmly and patiently. In the right environment, he will become a loyal and grateful companion.

SK·Show original

Hladkanie a škrabkanie si úprimne užíva, miluje pamlsky a rád sa hrá so psími kamarátmi. So psami aj fenkami vychádza bez problémov. V správnom prostredí z neho bude oddaný a vďačný spoločník.

About Bart

What life with Bart looks like

Bart is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at ÚVP Košice in Slovakia.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇸🇰Adopting from Slovakia

Slovak rescue groups coordinate cross-border transport with European partners. Animals are chipped and vaccinated; sterilization is often included for adults and arranged post-adoption for puppies/kittens.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bart, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bart?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ÚVP Košice handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bart on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bart if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ÚVP Košice will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bart already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bart isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ÚVP Košice early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bart and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (SK). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
