Basel

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy

mixed breed Basel wants to finally arrive. The little Basel was left behind with his 8 siblings at a shopping mall in Bulgaria. At present, he lives safely in our partner shelter there and will be able to travel to his own home or a foster home starting in July. Basel is a loving, puppy-type curious little guy who carefully explores his surroundings. He shows himself to be somewhat reserved and cautious towards people at the moment, but with patience and calm, he gradually builds trust. He gets along well with other dogs and enjoys affectionate interactions. Like every puppy, Basel still has much to learn—about house training, being alone, walking on a leash, and getting used to various environmental stimuli. With loving guidance, patience, and positive reinforcement, he will surely develop into a wonderful dog. For Basel, we wish for people who will give him the time to settle into his new life and gently accompany him. A puppy brings not only many wonderful cuddle and happy moments but also responsibility, patience, and work. Since we do not know his parent dogs, we cannot rule out possible herding dog tendencies. Interested parties should therefore consider possible character traits. An rural home with an enclosed yard would be ideal for Basel. Who will give Basel the chance to a loving and safe home? Adopting a shelter dog always means taking on a special responsibility and can also be a challenge. The dogs bring a backpack of past experiences or unlearned situations with them and need time to adjust to their new lives. If you have serious interest in adopting Basel, please contact the responsible mediator at SALVA Hundehilfe. We would also be very happy about the provision of a foster home.

About Basel

What life with Basel looks like

Basel is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Basel, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Basel?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Basel on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Basel if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Basel already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Basel isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Basel and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
