adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Bashful has found his people! His story: Bashful has been waiting for his ticket to happiness for almost three years now. Bashful is a beautiful male dog – unfortunately, he has lost his trust in people. So he is likely to be overlooked. We are sure, however, that he has a lot of potential – he just needs that one chance! Bashful is about 6 years old and has a medium size of around 50 cm and 20 kg. He lives in a yard with female dogs and gets along well with them. With male dogs, he does not get along so well. Bashful has not been able to learn anything in his life so far. It is likely that he has spent his life on the streets. He spends a lot of time in his meager wooden hut, and if there were a hole where he could disappear, he would probably use it… For Bashful, we wish empathetic and experienced people who have the right touch for our little scaredy-cat. We do not know how long it will take for him to step out of his shell. In the end, however, curiosity usually prevails. Step by step, he wants to take his new life with his people. The pace is determined by Bashful. If he feels security and develops trust in the two-leggeds, he will surely come out of himself more and more. A confident first-time breeder could certainly help him. Our handsome Bashful travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated to his new home and can bring his EU pet passport with him after a positive assessment. An experienced foster home could also be a springboard into a new life for him. Who will give Bashful a safe home? A big thank you goes to Undine T., who has taken on a monthly sponsorship for Bashful. As of: 23.12.

Bashful konnte in seinem Leben bisher nichts lernen. Stand: 23.12.2024

About Bashful

What life with Bashful looks like

Bashful is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bashful, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bashful?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bashful on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bashful if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bashful already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bashful isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bashful and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
