Grummel came to our animal shelter because his owner was incarcerated. After the owner was released, he did not contact us again, and all attempts to reach out to him were in vain. It is quite obvious that he no longer has any interest in his dog. Sponsors needed! Grummel seems to have not had an easy life so far. The male dog is extremely mistrustful of strangers and reacted panically during our first approaches. He rolled on his back and in circles, and bit wildly. It took weeks for us to even begin approaching the little terrier. Now, a few people have gained Grummel’s trust, but it hangs by a thread, and if he feels uncomfortable in a situation, he immediately reacts defensively and would also bite. Additionally, Grummel has a visual impairment, which means he cannot assess many situations properly. Grummel gets along well with female dogs and it helps him a lot to have a confident four-legged partner by his side. Grummel is looking for a home with very experienced dog owners. Ideally, his new home would have a securely fenced garden, so that we don’t have to leash the male dogs initially so that he can settle in. Even when on the leash, he still sometimes reacts panically. Grummel needs a lot of time and patience.

Grummel kam in unser Tierheim, weil sein Besitzer inhaftiert worden war. Nachdem der Besitzer wieder entlassen worden war, meldete er sich nicht mehr bei uns und alle Versuche mit ihm in Kontakt zutreten liefen ins leere. Ganz offensichtlich hatte er kein Interesse mehr an seinem Hund. Paten gesucht! Grummel scheint es in seinem bisherigen Leben nicht immer gut gehabt zu haben. Der Rüde ist extrem misstrauisch gegenüber fremden Menschen und er reagierte bei den ersten Annäherungsversuchen durch uns regelrecht panisch. Er drehte sich auf dem Rücken und im Kreis und biss wild um sich. Es dauerte Wochen bis wir es schafften nur ansatzweise an den kleinen Terrier heranzukommen. Mittlerweile gibt es ein paar Personen zu denen Grummel etwas Vertrauen gefasst hat. Aber dieses Vertrauen hängt noch an einem seidenen Faden und sobald ihm eine Situation unheimlich wird reagiert er sofort wieder abwehrend und er würde dann auch beissen. Hinzu kommt, dass Grummel eine Sehbehinderung hat und er dadurch bedingt auch viele Situationen nicht einschätzen kann. Grummel versteht sich gut mit Hündinnen und es hilft ihm sehr, wenn er eine souveräne vierbeinige Partnerin an seiner Seite hat. Grummel sucht ein zu Hause mit sehr erfahrenen Hundehaltern. Ideal wäre es, wenn sein neues zu Hause einen sicher eingezäunten Garten hätte, so dass man den Rüden ersteinmal nicht anleinen muss damit er sich lösen kann. Denn auch beim an der Leine laufen, wird er teilweise noch panisch. Grummel braucht viel Zeit und Geduld.
