Batat

Male · Adult · 4 years

Lion's mane, dachshund paws, and a rabbit's heart. Batat is undoubtedly the most unique dog you have ever seen and surely the longest one! In addition, he is a happy and friendly dog for dogs and people, never gets into any conflicts and tries to get along with everyone. Batat has been in the animal shelter for 3 years despite his many qualities. Although he is a great companion for walks in the fields near the animal shelter, he is best in groups, and throughout the time he is here we can't seem to explain to him that walking on a leash isn't so scary. Therefore, Batat will not cope in the city and we are looking for him a home in a quiet, peaceful area. It would also be best if he lived with canine companionship. In the kennel, Batat hides and curls up in his den although during walks he joyfully runs alongside the legs. Being in a small closed space makes him anxious. Therefore, we would like him to have access to a garden where he can get used to closeness at his own pace. Batat is an absolutely gentle dog. All veterinary procedures are bravely accepted, stuck to the floor of his den. If you were charmed by Batata's lion's face and you live in a house with a garden, get in touch with us - maybe you are meant for each other?

PL·Show original

Fryzura a’la Król Lew, łapki jamnicze, a serce zajęcze. Najlepiej też by zamieszkał z psim towarzystwem. W boksie Batat chowa się i kuli w swojej budzie choć na spacerze pędzi radośnie przy samych nogach. Przebywanie w ciasnej zamkniętej przestrzeni go peszy. About Batat

What life with Batat looks like

Batat is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Needs garden/yard space, fears leash walking, requires patience with confinement anxiety, prefers quiet rural areas over city life

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Batat, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Batat?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Batat on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Batat if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Batat already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Batat isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Batat and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
