Adopt Batman

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Young · 2 years

Batman – a shy little hero on four legs is searching for his home. Batman is no ordinary name – and this little guy is anything but ordinary. Born around October 2, 2024, the young male dog has been living at the animal shelter Odai since February. There, he has slowly begun to trust, step by step, because Batman’s start in life was far from easy. Found alone on an abandoned piece of land, no one seemed to be looking for him. Upon arriving at the animal shelter, he was brought together with other puppies of his age. At first, he was very afraid. Even the attempt to touch him was enough to make him scream. But no one gave up, and Batman gradually opened up. Today, he allows himself to be picked up and carried to the playground. There, he blossoms. Especially when he gets to play with other dogs, he truly comes alive. He most often looks up to older male dogs, carefully observing what they do before trying it himself. With people, he is still cautious. He now allows cuddles, but he can’t really enjoy them yet. But one can feel: he is on the right path. A path that, with patience, calmness, and love, will lead him to a suitable home. We wish for him a home with a confident only dog that he can look up to. A quiet household with understanding people who allow him to come at his own pace would be ideal. For Batman brings everything a wonderful companion needs – he just needs to learn that he can feel safe. This animal can be anxious in unfamiliar situations.

About Batman

What life with Batman looks like

Batman is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Batman, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Batman?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Batman on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Batman if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Batman already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Batman isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Batman and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
