Bator

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 7 years

Breed: mixed-breed male dog Age: born around 2019 Moinmoin! I am Bator … an adult mixed-breed male dog in a robust outfit. I have short, easy-to-maintain fur, predominantly black. But on my chest, I carry a white decorative stripe, just like the squirrels often have. My head is broad and expansive, who knows, maybe a bit of Labrador is in me? I have semi-upright and slightly hanging ears, which not only look pretty but also a bit funny. I am a very people-obsessed fellow, and I really enjoy getting a bit extra attention from my caretakers, and of course, I do everything I can to make that happen as often as possible. I love to run around like a maniac, enjoy playing fetch, and will even take a bath once in a while. I belong to the active bunch, get along well with other dogs, with the exception of dominant male dogs. Unfortunately, not much is known about my past. I am one of those dogs who suddenly appeared somewhere and were simply put outside. I am looking for an active family with whom I can go to the ends of the earth. That sounds not only double-meaning but that's exactly what I mean! I want a person by my side whom I can rely on and who will never give me up again! I would never even consider setting my person free; such a thing is forbidden by my honor code … and my heart even more!!! I want to snuggle and cuddle, be close to you, worship and love you! To be a dog, I want to: splash in a muddy puddle, dig until the bathtub calls, luxuriate, dash until my ears fly, also get up to some nonsense … to live life to the fullest. I would be happy to go to dog training classes … for that, I would even part with some of my pocket money. Teamwork is great, and we would understand each other very quickly. With longing greetings, Before I travel to my new home, I will be neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. If you would like to adopt me, please contact my handlers.

About Bator

What life with Bator looks like

Bator is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Traurige Hundeherzen e.V. in Hamburg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bator, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bator?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Traurige Hundeherzen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bator on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bator if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Traurige Hundeherzen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bator already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bator isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Traurige Hundeherzen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bator and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
