Adopt Bax

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Bax is looking for a new home! Bax was originally named differently and had an owner. That person certainly did not deserve to have a dog. Allegedly, Baxa hit, kicked and tried to attack other dogs or even people, left him tied up anywhere, or let him roam the city alone. Bax was caught by the city police in cooperation with shelter staff, taken as a dangerous dog. We approached him very carefully, trying to make him forget all the bad things and show him that there is another life than the one he had so far. Bax has shown aggressive behavior only once in the shelter! He will go to adoption only to people with experience with bull breeds, as a single dog, not to children or other dogs or animals. With proper guidance, he can ignore other dogs, but unfortunately he will never be a companion. Bax knows how to walk nicely on a leash and allows a muzzle, some manipulations around handling still require caution, however, considering his past we can say that he is capable of functioning as a normal dog. Bax likes pets, knows how to sit, would definitely appreciate regular visits to a training class, where he could learn more commands. With a person he likes, he can be affectionate, enjoys being petted, runs after a ball. Suitable for a day with access outside. Will go to adoption unneutered.

Do adopcie pôjde len ľuďom so skúsenosťami s bull plemenami, ako jedináčik, nie k deťom ani iným psom či zvieratám. Do adopcie pôjde kastrovaný.

About Bax

What life with Bax looks like

Bax is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at OZ Šťastné Labky Fiľakovo in Slovakia.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇸🇰Adopting from Slovakia

Slovak rescue groups coordinate cross-border transport with European partners. Animals are chipped and vaccinated; sterilization is often included for adults and arranged post-adoption for puppies/kittens.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bax, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bax?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. OZ Šťastné Labky Fiľakovo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bax on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bax if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — OZ Šťastné Labky Fiľakovo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bax already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bax isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with OZ Šťastné Labky Fiľakovo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bax and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (SK). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
