Adopt Kaala

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

Kaala is a street dog. And literally. She lived on the street for more than two years in one village and no one helped her. No one dealt with it. Sometimes someone gave her food, she didn't bother anyone. She didn't know what home was. They say she even had puppies that "they distributed". She waited so long for her life to finally change. When we found out about her, she came to us right away. And now she's looking for her real home. Kaala is extremely beautiful, kind and intelligent female dog. She has her own head, she's grumpy like a husky. Probably there is some ancestor like that. 😊 She is such a dog lady. She gets along well with dogs, first she tries to keep them at a distance. When they get close, everything is fine. 🙂 But she is the boss. She sets the rules in the pack. She loves walks. Most of all, most of all, most of all. A great dog for an enthusiastic hiker. As we write, however, she is quite grumpy and does her own thing, so proper training, GPS collar, all of this must be part of the shared life. But she is not a big eater, so you can't bribe her with treats. 😊 She has good hygiene habits. She is a great dog. She will definitely not let you down. Suitable for apartment or house with year-round access to the yard. She will go to a new home vaccinated, microchipped and spayed. She is located in the shelter in Švábovec near Poprad.

KAALA je pes ulice. A to doslova. Viac než dva roky žila na ulici v jednej obci a nikto jej nepomohol. Nikto to neriešil. Veď sem tam jej niekto jedlo dal, nikomu nevadila. Nepoznala, čo je to domov. Vraj aj porodila šteniatka, ktoré „si rozdali“. Tak dlho čakala na to, aby sa jej konečne zmenil život. Keď sme sa o nej dozvedeli, hneď prišla k nám. A teraz hľadá svoj skutočný domov. KAALA je nesmierne krásna, milá a inteligentná fenka. Má vlastnú hlavu, je trucovitá ako husky. Pravdepodobne tam bude nejaký predok. 😀 Je to taká psia dáma. So psíkmi sa znáša dobre, prv sa snaží ich držať od tela. Keď sa skamošia, je už všetko v poriadku. 🙂 No je to, ale šéfka. Ona určuje pravidlá vo svorke Miluje prechádzky. Najviac, najviac, najviac.

About Kaala

What life with Kaala looks like

Kaala is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Cesta za domovom in Slovakia.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇸🇰Adopting from Slovakia

Slovak rescue groups coordinate cross-border transport with European partners. Animals are chipped and vaccinated; sterilization is often included for adults and arranged post-adoption for puppies/kittens.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kaala, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kaala?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Cesta za domovom handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kaala on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kaala if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Cesta za domovom will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kaala already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kaala isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Cesta za domovom early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kaala and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (SK). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
