Adopt Bean

Staffordshire Bull Terrier · Female · Adult · 6 years

Bean is a Staffordshire-mixed-breed female dog who has unexpectantly lost her home. Her previous owner had to surrender her because the landlord does not allow listless dogs. Now, the wonderful female dog is searching for people who can give her the security and stability she deserves. Bean is an exceptionally friendly and open female dog who greets people with openness and loves to cuddle. She enjoys relaxing on the sofa with her people. According to her previous owner, "couch potato" time is one of her absolute favorite activities. In everyday life, Bean is usually very calm and uncomplicated. She is familiar with home life, can easily settle down, and masters basic commands. She also handles car rides without any problems. The typical terrier in Bean brings a certain portion of stubbornness. If she doesn't want to continue walking or doesn't want to take a certain path, she can have her own mind. Due to her relatively short legs and short snout, she is not a sports enthusiast. Bean prefers leisurely walks and relaxed time with her people. To help her breathe better, her tail was already docked, and her nostrils were widened. Since then, her breathing has significantly improved. For the summer, Bean wishes for a garden where she can relax in the shade. She also particularly enjoys cooling off in the water. In her new home, Bean would like to be the sole four-legged member and enjoy the full attention of her people. We can imagine children from around 12 years old, provided they have a considerate way with dogs. Overall, however, Bean is searching for a quiet home. Since Bean is a listless dog, interested parties must fulfill the legal requirements. This includes a knowledge test and a current behavioral assessment at the time of removal. By the way, Bean recently passed her last behavioral assessment with distinction. We are of course happy to advise interested parties on the requirements and process if they have any questions.

About Bean

What life with Bean looks like

Bean is a adult staffordshire bull terrier dog waiting at Tierheim Darmstadt in Darmstadt.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bean, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bean?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Darmstadt handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bean on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bean if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Darmstadt will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bean already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bean isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Darmstadt early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bean and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
