Adopt Mariechen

Staffordshire Bull Terrier · Female · Adult · 4 years

• Due to German laws, Mariechen cannot be rehomed to Germany. Mariechen was captured by the town of Beclean in February 2023 with the sad goal of euthanizing her. Her fate seemed sealed. But life had other plans: Our animal welfare worker Stefan learned of the impending killing and saved her—along with 15 other dogs—from this hopeless situation. Since then, Mariechen has lived in safety. And despite her past, she has kept her open and affectionate personality. Mariechen is approximately 3.5 to 4 years old, curious, gentle, and incredibly people-oriented. She loves going for walks and already walks well on a leash. She also gets along well with other dogs—whether male or female, she shows consistently social and peaceful behavior. As Stefan’s children also regularly take care of the dogs, Mariechen is also familiar with children aged 12 and older and is very affectionate. Anyone who meets her immediately feels her warm presence and deep longing for closeness and security. Mariechen is a mixed breed, likely an American Staffordshire Terrier mix. In Germany, this breed is classified as a Category 1 dog, which means we unfortunately cannot rehome Mariechen to Germany.

Seitdem lebt Mariechen in Sicherheit.

About Mariechen

What life with Mariechen looks like

Mariechen is a adult staffordshire bull terrier dog waiting at Arme Hundeseelen in Năsăud.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇷🇴Adopting from Romania

Frequently asked

Adopting Mariechen, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mariechen?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Arme Hundeseelen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mariechen on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mariechen if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Arme Hundeseelen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mariechen already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mariechen isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Arme Hundeseelen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mariechen and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
