Bébelle

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Adult · 8 years

Bébelle, her sister Misty and their mother Princess joined us because their owner is now homeless and can no longer keep them. At the same time, considering the condition of their skin, it's a blessing in disguise for them. Their nails are extremely long. They will be seen by everyone tomorrow for an assessment, and quick implementation of care. They are not identified, never vaccinated and not spayed. Surprising characteristic, they are not at all affectionate with each other, quite the opposite, since their arrival it's each for themselves and Bébelle who is blind ends up completely lost. She moves her head from side to side trying to locate sounds like a bat would. Bébelle certainly has congenital atopic skin. At times she has elephant-like skin and almost no fur (the little that remained was in dreadlocks - see photo). She has dry keratoconjunctivitis in both eyes and an orange deposit in the ears. When she arrived at Sauqueuse, once placed in the garden, she started howling in fear and barking in a high-pitched way followed very quickly by her sister... I was very surprised and a bit upset to discover that these two little dogs were extremely noisy without even having met the senior dogs yet and I confess I wondered into what trouble I had again gotten myself by taking them in 😱 Once I was told that she was blind, an important information that had been omitted from me, I understood her stress and took her in my arms. Here are the photos of the little mouse that weighs 3 kg when wet. She was washed upon arrival because her body smelled bad and we cut her nails. She is very gentle but for now lost. She no longer barks at the senior dogs but remains a bit timid in their presence because she doesn't know them. Bébelle is available for sponsorship and adoption.

FR·Show original

About Bébelle

What life with Bébelle looks like

Bébelle is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Cani-Seniors in cani seniors.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bébelle, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bébelle?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Cani-Seniors handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bébelle on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bébelle if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Cani-Seniors will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bébelle already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bébelle isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Cani-Seniors early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bébelle and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
