Bella

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Senior · 17 years

At our animal shelter, we also welcome those cats who, due to age or behavioral challenges, risk not finding a home. It is precisely these cats who need the most stability, care, and understanding. We continue every day to promote sterilization and responsible ownership because too many surrenders and abandonments arise from unconsidered choices or a lack of support. Today, we tell the story of Bella, a sweet 17-year-old cat. At her age, she would only need peace and stability, but instead, she had to face a new change. She was welcomed by a girl with good intentions, but over time, Bella began to soil the house. The situation became difficult to manage, especially with the presence of a small child, and the family was no longer able to take care of her as they wished. So, Bella arrived with us. When an elderly cat changes environments, she suffers a lot from stress, and for this reason, we chose to offer her a stable and protected accommodation within the animal shelter. Here, she is closely monitored, her health is monitored, and her time is respected. At 17 years old, every balance is precious. For Bella, we do not seek a traditional adoption but exclusively a distant adoption. This is the best way to ensure continuity, veterinary care, adequate nutrition, and everything she needs without subjecting her to further changes. Supporting Bella from a distance means making a concrete gesture toward an elderly animal that deserves peace and dignity until the end. On our website, you can find the dedicated section with all the information to help you. Even when adoption is not possible, love can still arrive. With your support, Bella will never be alone. A 17 anni, ogni equilibrio è prezioso. About Bella

What life with Bella looks like

Bella is a small senior mixed breed cat waiting at Lo Scudo di Pan - Rifugio per Animali in Italy.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bella, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bella?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Lo Scudo di Pan - Rifugio per Animali handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bella on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bella if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Lo Scudo di Pan - Rifugio per Animali will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bella already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bella isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Lo Scudo di Pan - Rifugio per Animali early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bella and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
