Ben

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

Ben, born in 2021 and about 50 cm tall, is a gentle male dog who still has to learn to trust the world. He belongs to the so-called ViN special dogs: animals that have had few good experiences with people in their lives and now need to discover, step by step, that affection and security really exist. At the Campurelu shelter, Ben lives in a small group of three males. The three give each other support, seek each other's closeness, and form a little community of shared fate. At the same time, they reinforce one another's caution: none of them quite dares to take the first step. Ben shows no defensive behavior and no aggression, only caution, uncertainty, and the wish to simply be left in peace. When you meet him, you can sense that he would like to trust, but does not yet know how. For Ben we are looking for very patient, experienced, and sensitive people who are ready to commit to a dog that needs time. People who bring not pity but understanding, and who will lovingly help him discover the world in small steps. With patience, calm, and a safe environment, Ben can learn that life offers more than fear and withdrawal. He deserves people who show him that he is finally allowed to arrive, as a dog who is seen and loved. Ben is vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered, and will be placed after a positive preliminary check with a protection contract. General note about our animals: Our dogs in Romania are visited regularly so that we can continually reassess their behavior and development. These personal impressions help us greatly in conveying as accurate a picture as possible of each individual dog. However, we would like to point out that a dog may behave differently in a new environment, with new people, new routines, and new impressions. This is completely normal and part of every process of change. Many dogs open up even faster at home and show sides that were not visible at the shelter at all. Our assessments are therefore based on current observations, but they are not a guarantee of any particular behavior in a new environment. They are meant to provide orientation and show how the dog presents itself at the shelter, and what potential lies within him. We are convinced that with patience, understanding, and a loving environment, every dog can find his way and develop positively.

About Ben

What life with Ben looks like

Ben is an adult mixed breed dog waiting at Vierbeiner in Not e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ben, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ben?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Vierbeiner in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ben on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ben if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Vierbeiner in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Ben already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ben isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Vierbeiner in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ben and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
