Stella

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Stella, a fluffy fox-mix, is looking for her forever home! Sometimes the first adoption attempt isn't the best - and that's why this magical little girl named Stella is now a foster in 46147 Oberhausen. Stella's initial shyness and almost submissive approach to people is a sign that she hasn't had the best experiences with humans in the past. But once she realizes someone is kind, she's all about cuddles, kisses, and play. She doesn't cling, but after a while, she'll take a step back, curl up on the couch, and relax. Stella has been with us for just a week, but she's already running up and down the stairs without fear. She's also housebroken and lets us know when she needs to go outside. She can stay alone for two hours without getting anxious. Stella is curious and confident when she's outside, and she's very responsive to her owner. She loves to use her nose, making her a perfect candidate for scent work. Stella has tested positive for heartworms, but treatment is already underway. She just needs a monthly spot-on treatment for two years to eliminate the infestation. Heartworms are highly treatable and curable if caught early. Most dogs are not affected by the parasites or the treatment. Heartworms are not contagious to humans, dogs, or other animals. If you have questions about heartworms or their treatment, please don't hesitate to contact us. We have detailed information on these parasites (and other health issues) under the "Health" section. Traumhund gesucht?

About Stella

What life with Stella looks like

Stella is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Canifair e.V. in Kaarst.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Stella, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Stella?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Canifair e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Stella on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Stella if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Canifair e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Stella already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Stella isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Canifair e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Stella and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
