Bendix

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 6 years

Bendix, a male cat born around 2020/2021, is looking for a new home. He is from Bulgaria, neutered, FIV-negative, FeLV-negative, and has a mild ataxia. He is compatible with children, cats, and dogs. He requires a home with no single-cat housing, indoor living only, and no outdoor access. A balcony or terrace is desirable (if available, securing it is required). Bendix lived at a bus station for a long time, where he would often curl up on people's legs, hoping for a pat, some warmth, or a small bite of food. Some people gave him attention, while others just walked by, and unfortunately, he also experienced people who didn't mean well. Fortunately, he was rescued and moved to Virginia's animal shelter. After being rescued, Bendix was neutered, vaccinated, and received veterinary care. Unfortunately, his teeth were in such poor condition that they all had to be removed. After a vaccination, Bendix developed a mild ataxia. The dear cat copes surprisingly well with it: he jumps up on the sofa and bed independently and reaches higher places with a small step. He only doesn't use very high scratching trees. He also needs a litter box with a normal entrance. Hop-In litter boxes are not suitable for him. Bendix is one of the most affectionate cats Virginia has ever met. He purrs almost constantly and always seeks the proximity of his humans. As soon as someone sits down, it doesn't take long for Bendix to lie on their lap. And when his human snuggles into bed, Bendix is usually already on his way to join them. For him, there is nothing better than being loved and being close to his humans. Bendix also gets along well with other cats. Dogs are no problem for him as long as they respect his personal space and aren't too boisterous. Despite everything he has experienced, he remains an incredibly friendly, gentle, and people-oriented cat. We wish for Bendix people who don't see his ataxia, but the wonderful cat behind it. A cat who longs for nothing more than to belong and be loved. Whoever gives Bendix a home will gain a loyal cuddle partner with a huge heart.

About Bendix

What life with Bendix looks like

Bendix is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Glücksnasen e.V. Tierschutzverein in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bendix, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bendix?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Glücksnasen e.V. Tierschutzverein handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bendix on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bendix if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Glücksnasen e.V. Tierschutzverein will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bendix already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bendix isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Glücksnasen e.V. Tierschutzverein early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bendix and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
