Benita

Benita is under the care of the Przyjaciele Palucha Foundation. For adoption inquiries, please contact the foundation. *** Benita came into the care of our foundation in June 2026. The kitten had spent over a year at a Warsaw shelter, where homelessness was taking an increasingly heavy toll on her. She became more and more subdued and withdrawn, and her prolonged stay at the shelter worried us more and more. As soon as we had the opportunity to take Benita to a foster home, we didn't hesitate for a moment. And so this feline lady is now waiting for her forever home in a safe, domestic environment. Benita has been estimated to be around 8 years old, though she could be older. She’s toothless but has IBD and degenerative changes in her spine. Thanks to the right diet, Benita’s intestines are functioning well, and we don’t see any problems in that area. The degenerative changes require further examination and the development of a treatment plan that will ensure Benita comfort and smooth daily functioning. As for Benita’s personality? We can definitely say she’s a feline lady—and like any lady, she appreciates good company, of course, on her own terms. She’s talkative and sociable, yet she doesn’t mind ending interactions when it’s time for her. It’s precisely in those moments that we appreciate how toothless Benita is. She’s definitely a cat with character—but a special one, cheerful, curious, full of love and gratitude, as long as her boundaries are respected. Benita is also a declared only child. She felt very uncomfortable around other cats at the shelter, and the greatest comfort for her would be a home without other pets. When Benita took her first steps in her foster home, she wagged her tail excitedly as she explored the entire apartment. A move from her foster home to her forever home will be just as exciting for her. If you’re looking for a solitary feline companion with whom you can build a true friendship based on mutual respect and understanding, Benita is exactly the cat for you. Benita jest podopieczną Fundacji Przyjaciele Palucha. W sprawie adopcji prosimy o kontakt z fundacją.

About Benita

What life with Benita looks like

Benita is a small adult cat waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

Note from the shelter: IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease) requiring special diet, overweight due to steroid treatment, needs continued weight management

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Benita, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Benita?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Benita on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Benita if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Benita already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Benita isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Benita and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
