Millie at Animal Concern

Female · Adult · 6 years

Millie is a beautiful 6-year-old Deerhound cross Poodle, roughly the size of a Standard Poodle, with the softest, silkiest coat and the most wonderfully goofy ears you’ve ever seen. She turns heads wherever she goes but it’s her gentle, loving nature that truly makes her unforgettable. Since arriving with us, Millie has begun to settle into kennel life and is slowly finding her paws again. While she can still be a sensitive soul, she’s growing in confidence each day as she learns that she’s safe and cared for. Beneath her initial nerves is an affectionate, deeply devoted girl who just wants to feel secure. Millie is what you might call a “nervous nelly” - sweet, a little timid, and in need of reassurance, but once she feels comfortable with you, her true personality shines. She forms very strong bonds with her people, and when she trusts you, she’ll even try to clamber into your lap for comfort and security, despite her size! She walks beautifully on the lead, staying nice and loose by your side, making her a lovely companion for gentle strolls. Millie also adores people and has shown that she loves everyone she meets, greeting most new faces with a quiet friendliness that grows into affection over time. Millie is looking for a calm, patient home where she won’t be left for long periods and can enjoy plenty of companionship. She’ll thrive in a peaceful environment with kind-hearted people who understand that building confidence takes time. With the right support, she will continue to blossom into the wonderful companion we know she can be. She doesn’t ask for much, just a soft place to land, a steady routine, regular grooming, and someone willing to see the lovely dog she is beneath her worries. In return, Millie will offer gentle affection, unwavering loyalty, and those slightly goofy, heart-melting moments that will make you smile every single day. If you have a calm home and a kind heart, Millie could be the missing piece you didn’t know you needed. Head to Animal Concern website to fill out an application.

About Millie at Animal Concern

What life with Millie at Animal Concern looks like

Millie at Animal Concern is a adult dog waiting at Oak Tree Animals in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Millie at Animal Concern, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Millie at Animal Concern?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Oak Tree Animals handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Millie at Animal Concern on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Millie at Animal Concern if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Oak Tree Animals will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Millie at Animal Concern already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Millie at Animal Concern isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Oak Tree Animals early rather than rehoming privately; they know Millie at Animal Concern and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
