Benn

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 7 years

This is Benn. The 2019 mixed breed male came to our shelter in 2022 as a surrender animal. His owners were overwhelmed with him and felt forced to give him up. We suspect that Golden Retriever, Greyhound, and Shepherd are in him. Benn likes to play, go for walks, and is also enthusiastic about nose work. Besides his cheerful nature, he is unfortunately also an insecure dog. He has not yet experienced much in his life, and he tends to jump around. This is particularly evident when walking. For this reason, he wears a muzzle during dog encounters, which does not cause him any problems in general. Due to his insecurity, he needs a home with clear structures and rules. If his future owner provides these, he is a really wonderful dog. We would therefore only like to place him with dog-experienced people. Children should already be in their teenage years, as Benn is quite energetic. A home without cats or small animals and a visit to a dog school would be desirable. With consistent and loving upbringing, he will become a loyal friend for life ❤️

DE·Show original

About Benn

What life with Benn looks like

Benn is an adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutz Rodenberg / Bad Nenndorf und Umgegend e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Benn, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Benn?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutz Rodenberg / Bad Nenndorf und Umgegend e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Benn on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Benn if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutz Rodenberg / Bad Nenndorf und Umgegend e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Benn already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Benn isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutz Rodenberg / Bad Nenndorf und Umgegend e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Benn and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
