Adopt Benny

Mixed Breed · Male · Kitten · 8 months

End of August last year, Benny was brought to our nursing station with a weight of about 10 weeks but only 560g body weight. Severe cat flu, hyporexia, and lung infection made us fight for the young tomcat for several months, worrying constantly. But Benny made it! Now he is around 8 months old and has grown into a half-strong young tomcat, except for a constantly re-adhering, weepy left eye and a slight breathing noise. Benny is always up for any nonsense and loves to roughhouse and play with the other cats in his group. With strangers, Benny is initially shy and cautious, but once the ice is broken, he becomes a curious, cuddly young tomcat who enjoys being stroked and groomed. As Benny is a very social tomcat, we are happy to place him with other cats/kittens of a similar age who can be inspired by his youthful energy. Benny is neutered, microchipped, has received the first two vaccinations of the core immunization, and has also undergone a major dental procedure.

About Benny

What life with Benny looks like

Benny is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Katzenhilfe Ulm e.V. in Ulm.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Benny, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Benny?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Katzenhilfe Ulm e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Benny on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Benny if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Katzenhilfe Ulm e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Benny already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Benny isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Katzenhilfe Ulm e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Benny and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
