How do I contact the shelter about Marian?

Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Alsfeld handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Marian on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.

Can I adopt Marian if I live in another country?

Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Alsfeld will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.

Is Marian already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?

Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.

What happens if Marian isn't the right fit?

Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Alsfeld early rather than rehoming privately; they know Marian and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.

Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?

TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.

Marian

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Marian, a black cat with a small white chest patch, was found with his siblings Marta and Michel in Willingshausen and was brought to our shelter. The three were initially very shy, but the brothers quickly found their way to us humans. He is now also affectionate and does it really well! Marian has become a wild little sweeper. He runs through the room and wants to be curious about the world. He is looking for a buddy to play and wrestle with. Marian has a lot of energy and also always gets his cuddles from humans. The lively guy is very social and loves other fellow creatures. If he is adopted alone from us, then a dear, roughly equal-aged fellow should be waiting for him in the new home who likes to wrestle and run through the world! He will not be placed in single housing! Marian had an appointment at the Staufenberg Eye Clinic to clarify the reaction delay of the pupil of his right eye. But you can't tell if he has problems with his eyesight. He has a mild precursor to cataracts, which is why he gets special drops. Unfortunately, this can not be stopped or cured, but it can be strongly counteracted. For more information, our veterinarian, Mrs. Hirschmann, would be happy to give you information if you are interested. Marian should be allowed the possibility of free range. Here, the home should be very traffic-free due to his mild handicap. The best would be a location on the outskirts of town. Would you like to get to know Marian and his clique? For more information and/or to arrange a visit (or contact with the foster home), please call the shelter at. It would be best to call in the morning between 9:00 and 12:00.

About Marian

What life with Marian looks like

Marian is a small young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Alsfeld in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.
