Adoption requirements Adoption process Request this animal now! Adoption requirements Adoption process Request this dog now! Benny's previous life was marked by pain and uncertainty - and yet he has preserved his quiet hope. This approximately 2-year-old male dog was found by a friend of our animal protector Dorel, after he was found with an open fracture of the hind leg. Alone and seriously injured, he wandered around until Dorel came to his aid and secured him. Benny has now recovered well from his operation. It turned out to be a fracture above the ankle, which is now fixed with a plate. This plate must be removed again after the fracture has completely healed. However, we are currently optimistic that Benny will have little or perhaps no limitations in the long term. Physiotherapy would best support him on this path. At about 55 cm tall and with white fur and black spots, Benny is a beautiful dog. However, particularly touching are his black button eyes, which reflect his previous history. Currently, Benny is very shy towards people. He lets everything happen to him quietly without resistance, but also without real trust. He has developed a bond with Dorel - so much that Dorel can easily clean and treat his wounds. This shows that Benny is ready to trust if given the necessary time. Benny gets along well with other dogs. He currently shares his kennel with another male dog, which works smoothly. A confident only dog could help him orient himself faster, but is not a must. For Benny we are urgently looking for a fostering or final home that gives him the time and calm he needs to settle in. Especially important would be a home that is willing to accompany him during his further recovery and support him in the necessary physiotherapy. Benny still has a journey ahead - but for the first time, the chances are good that he can take this journey without pain and with a new quality of life. All he needs now are people who show him how a real home feels. After a positive Also, the handsome male dog would be very happy about a foster home. Thank you to Gerlinde S. Thanks to you, Benny has gained an identity and can now finally start looking for his home. Status: 13.05. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 13.05.2026

About Benny

What life with Benny looks like

Benny is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Benny, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Benny?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Benny on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Benny if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Benny already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Benny isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Benny and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
