Benny

Male · Adult · 4 years

On a gloomy, autumn morning, staff at the animal shelter noticed two dogs locked in a small cage left on the street near the animal shelter. One of the dogs is Benny, and his fate was shared by his brother Egon. Benny is a dog with an extremely gentle and unassuming nature. At first, it might seem that he is shy and reserved, but nothing could be further from the truth! A few shared walks are enough for him to love a person unconditionally. Perhaps the first meeting with Benny will not be very affectionate - he won't jump onto your knees immediately or give you kisses, but with subsequent meetings he will stay in your heart forever. He will joyfully wag his tail at the sight of you. Walks with Benny are simply perfect. He mainly focuses on sniffing and calm exploration of the area. Benny often looks back at the person to make sure they are following him. He has a dose of uncertainty towards new sounds, such as a passing truck, but after a stressful situation he shakes himself off and continues the walk. Benny takes each step carefully and gracefully. He will not refuse a shared rest on the grass. Moreover, he nicely meets other dogs on walks. Benny probably came to us from rural areas. It is possible that he does not know home life and certain things will be new for him, such as a stairwell cage, an elevator, or certain household or neighborhood sounds. We are certain that curiosity lies within Benny, which will help him overcome his fears.

PL·Show original

Benny trafił do nas prawdopodobnie z terenów wiejskich.

About Benny

What life with Benny looks like

Benny is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: May need time to adjust to urban/indoor living

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Benny, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Benny?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Benny on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Benny if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Benny already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Benny isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Benny and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
