‘OLD DOG OF THE WEEK’ FEATURES NEW PHOTOS AND A FRESH WRITE-UP FOR AN OVERLOOKED OLDIE THAT HAS BEEN ON OUR WEBSITE FOR A WHILE BUT IS STILL WAITING FOR A NEW HOME. Please help Bentley by sharing this page! Bentley the Boxer Cross is a 9-year-old* boy in the care of Leicester Animal Aid. He can live with other dogs and children from age 12 but not cats. They might not appreciate his brand of bounciness! Bentley is as soppy as the come with his people. He's always up for a fuss and a cuddle. Bentley is strong and playful. He loves his toys and he loves getting out and about, preferably for a bit of off-lead lolloping in a nice, secure field. He's cheerful and enthusiastic about life in general and has the typical Boxer goofiness which will always make you chuckle. Having said that, he does do a good line in baleful looks if he thinks a walkies, tit bit or his dinner is sadly overdue! Bentley is a Good Boy in the house. He's clean and can be left for a couple of hours once he knows the routine. He would suit owners who know the Boxer breed or similar, who act in a puppyish manner and don't realise how big and unwieldy they are, nor how to pace themselves when they're having fun gallivanting but they do know how to lean in for a fuss! If you want to enquire about this soppy old sausage, please contact Leicester Animal Aid as follows: or fill in an Interested Parties Form here. Please say you saw Bentley featured as Old Dog of the Week on the Oldies Club website. *We previously were told that Bentley was 10 but this turned out to be a typo. He is indeed 9 and he acts a lot younger than that, except when he's tuckered himself out.

About Bentley

What life with Bentley looks like

Bentley is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at The Oldies Club in United Kingdom.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bentley, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bentley?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. The Oldies Club handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bentley on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bentley if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — The Oldies Club will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bentley already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bentley isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with The Oldies Club early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bentley and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
