Lola

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 12 years

12-year-old Lola is a quirky girl with an inquisitive, endearing personality. She is with Dogs4Rescue in Manchester, waiting for a special home. Note that they only rehome within the North West area. Lola was a feral dog and she will not tolerate being touched nor walked, however she has lived happily in a home for several years and she does enjoy home comforts. She's been spending time in a foster home where she has been the star guest – she is quiet, clean and non-destructive. Lola is particularly fond of soft toys. When Lola arrived she was extremely overweight. She is now at a healthy weight but the rescue has discovered that her history of enjoying sweet treats has resulted in her being rather fussy when it comes to eating regular dog food. She has had to have some teeth removed and she will require a soft diet. Her tongue now sticks out to the side of her mouth, but this surely just adds to her charm! Lola is on medication for urinary incontinence which has been working wonders and she no longer has any accidents. Lola gets along well with other dogs but it's felt that she would be best suited to being the only dog in her new home. She has previously lived with cats without any issue. Lola needs a calm, quiet, adult household with a secure garden. She is very laid back and would be ideal for an elderly person who is looking for company but may not be able to exercise a dog. Could you offer Lola a quiet home? —————- Contact Dogs4Rescue as follows: Email: Or complete the Contact form on their website Please mention that you saw Lola on the Oldies Club website. Rescue's rehoming policy: Dogs4Rescue generally rehome within Greater Manchester and the North West. —————-

About Lola

What life with Lola looks like

Lola is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at The Oldies Club in United Kingdom.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lola, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lola?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. The Oldies Club handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lola on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lola if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — The Oldies Club will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lola already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lola isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with The Oldies Club early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lola and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
