Bernd

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 2 months

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! Bernd…it saddens us so…Rest in peace! His story: Bistrita, Romania. Warning: Sugar shock. Who wouldn't be weak at this glance? The little "Man in Black" with the white accent colors is on the lookout for his people. Bernd and his seven siblings Mave, Leno, Soul, Cheddar, Kafka, Jim Knopf, and Kuddel were caught together with their mother Amra by Meda on a field in front of their house and brought to safety. Bernd is a bit skeptical towards humans and still cautiously observes his surroundings. But just like his siblings, he shows a playful puppy-like behavior and skillfully wraps all the people he meets around his little paws. But who can resist this look? Bernd's mother is about 50 cm tall and it is likely that Bernd will also grow to be medium-sized. Bernd is looking for people who don't expect anything from him at first and show him how a normal dog life works. He is still a baby and has a lot to learn. Sometimes, a mishap shouldn't be held against him and Bernd should always be accompanied with a positive and reinforcing training style. He is looking forward to his new life with beautiful nature walks, many cuddle hours, and also a visit to puppy school. Puppies should not be left alone as much as possible in their first year of life. Additionally, the more demanding puberty phase is approaching. The hormone chaos turns the lives of the little rascals upside down. They "forget" often everything they have learned so far, and their ears are on full blast. Therefore, it is especially important in this phase to consistently but lovingly educate. And there is also good news: This phase will pass! Once Bernd is old enough, he can take his big trip to happiness, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and treated for fleas. He will also have his EU pet passport in his luggage. Bernd would also be happy to be taken in by a foster home. Do you want to take Bernd by the paw and show him how beautiful a dog life is? Then don't wait, Bernd is looking forward to your request. With your nametag sponsorship, you, Kim, have enabled Bernd to start on a better future. We thank you heartily for this!

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Bernd…es tut uns so leid…Ruhe in Frieden! Seine Geschichte: Bistrita, Rumänien. Achtung Zuckerschock.

About Bernd

What life with Bernd looks like

Bernd is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bernd, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bernd?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bernd on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bernd if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bernd already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bernd isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bernd and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
