adoption requirements adoption process Adopt Bertha now! adoption requirements adoption process Adopt Bertha now! Bertha has found her home! Her story: Bertha had quite the bumpy start in life. Found together with her siblings near a village near Bistrita, they would have definitely not made it through the winter alone. Since her rescue, the scrappy bunch, which includes Twinkle, Nila, Herr von Bülow, Herr Sander, and Herr Schröder, has settled into their foster home nicely. With her silky black fur, small white accents, and equally dark eyes, she is a true beauty. Currently, she is around 30 cm tall. Bertha is friendly and playful. She gets along with dogs, but whether she also likes cats has not been tested yet. Although Bertha has had little luck so far, it seems that the tide is turning. For small puppy children, it is a great blessing to have a place in a foster home. However, it is important to differentiate here, as in Romania, dogs often live in foster homes primarily outdoors. Therefore, we would be very happy if the streak of good fortune doesn't end and Bertha can soon move into her own family. Bertha wants to start fresh and learn. Like every puppy, Bertha still needs to learn how a harmonious coexistence works and what the rules are in a household or during walks outside. So one should be aware that a puppy means responsibility, but also a lot of fun and joy. A visit to a positively working dog training class is a great enrichment for most dogs and people. Bertha means the Radiant One, and the people around her are already smiling. With the right structure, lots of love, and patience, the little puppy girl has nothing to stand in the way of becoming a loyal and faithful companion. If Bertha is to make you smile as well, then please get in touch with us. Of course, we would also be very grateful for a foster home. Bertha travels vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and treated for fleas. She is up to date on her vaccinations. A big thank you also goes to Susi! Thank you for the namesake sponsorship. Thanks to you, Bertha can now hope for her own family. Status: 15.01.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 15.01.2026

About Bertha

What life with Bertha looks like

Bertha is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bertha, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bertha?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bertha on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bertha if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bertha already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bertha isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bertha and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
