Adopt Bery

Rhodesian Ridgeback · Unknown · Young · 3 years

Beautiful mixed breed ridgeback and tosa inu, who was previously at another shelter, then spent a year in a family, where after a year of pleasant coexistence with a small dog, a problem arose - he started attacking the small dog, so he came to us, where he became a favorite of many people, when he left at the beginning of March to foster care - to a family that first came for introductions and had previous experience with a ridgeback, we all hoped he would stay there. Unfortunately, Bery is back again. This time, a problem emerged in his behavior towards children. Therefore, we know we will be looking for a home for Bery ideally in a household without children (not even older ones) and without other animals. Bery is a very friendly, nice and sensitive dog, but due to the fact that we do not exactly know his past, but some problematic aspects of his behavior are gradually emerging, we must be careful in selecting a new family, so that this time it really works and Bery does not have to take another change, whether he wants to or not. Fortunately, returning to the shelter was cheerful, so perhaps his big, beautiful and smart head will process everything without too much stress. He is 2.5 years old, neutered, and must be fed a hypoallergenic diet.

About Bery

What life with Bery looks like

Bery is a large young adult rhodesian ridgeback dog waiting at Útulek Zlín-Vršava in Zlín-Zlín 12.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇿Adopting from Czech Republic

Czech shelters (útulky) include sterilization, vaccinations, and microchip ID. The adopter signs a written contract (smlouva) — the shelter may follow up to verify wellbeing.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bery, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bery?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Útulek Zlín-Vršava handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bery on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bery if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Útulek Zlín-Vršava will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bery already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bery isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Útulek Zlín-Vršava early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bery and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (CS). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
