Beryl and Mavis

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 6 years

Beryl and Mavis are 5 year-old, short-haired, multicoloured little rainbows — and pretty much perfect cats. They are gentle, affectionate, curious and wonderfully communicative. They love cuddles, making biscuits, playing and generally being involved in whatever their humans are doing. They are professional biscuit makers and will happily knead your lap, sofa or bed for as long as you’re willing to let them. They are also experts at asking for attention: place a shoelace in front of them and they’ll politely meow every couple of minutes until you play. Ignore them for fifteen minutes and they’ll simply wander off. No drama. Both girls are incredibly gentle and have never scratched or shown aggression. They enjoy the occasional zoomie and playing together, but they’re generally calm and careful. They’re great with people and quickly make friends, happily weaving around visitors’ legs. Beryl is the elegant one — she looks like an Egyptian carving of the perfect cat. She’s a little more reserved, but once she’s comfortable she’s incredibly cuddly. She’s usually first into bed, first onto the sofa for film night and always ready for a thorough cuddle. She’s also the greediest of the two and will enthusiastically campaign for extra food. Mavis has a cheeky, adventurous face and is always scouting out her next adventure. She’s playful, curious and loves going outside, but she’s cuddly too – just very much on her own terms. Her speciality is waking you up in the morning with a tiny nose boop. They’re not destructive or demanding, they’re curious little adventurers who want to be involved. They’d love a home with someone who has time to play, cuddle and communicate with them. In return, you’ll get two exceptionally kind cats, endless biscuits, nose boops and a lot of love. They’d also love a garden away from busy roads for some gentle perambulations. Neutered, chipped with 5 weeks free insurance. About Beryl and Mavis

What life with Beryl and Mavis looks like

Beryl and Mavis is a very small adult mixed breed cat waiting at Bristol and Wales Cat Rescue in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Beryl and Mavis, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Beryl and Mavis?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Bristol and Wales Cat Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Beryl and Mavis on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Beryl and Mavis if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Bristol and Wales Cat Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Beryl and Mavis already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Beryl and Mavis isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Bristol and Wales Cat Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Beryl and Mavis and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
