Bestia

Border Collie · Female · Senior · 10 years

Bestia is an 8-year-old border collie mix who is now discovering a world she knows too little about. Unfortunately, due to her owner's move, they were unable to keep her and their new home did not allow them to bring her along. Bestia arrived at the shelter after spending her entire life with the same person. She is very timid and needs time to gain trust. Her lifestyle until now largely explains this sensitivity: she lived with constant access to a garden, was never taken for walks, and has never been in contact with other dogs since birth. Her world was therefore extremely limited. Today, everything is new to her. The noises, walks, encounters, and many daily stimuli can be a source of anxiety. Bestia will need patient, gentle, and respectful adopters who accept to give her the necessary time to gain trust. A calm life in a peaceful environment without young children will be a real asset for this sensitive dog. Future adopters must be ready to undertake significant socialization work, never rushing her.

FR·Show original

About Bestia

What life with Bestia looks like

Bestia is a senior border collie dog waiting at SRPA Veeweyde Brussels in Brussels.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bestia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bestia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SRPA Veeweyde Brussels handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bestia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bestia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SRPA Veeweyde Brussels will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bestia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bestia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SRPA Veeweyde Brussels early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bestia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
