Betty

Female · Adult · 6 years

Could you be my perfect match? Hello! My name is I can live with Dogs Cats Children MY story Betty came to us from Romania barely able to walk. She had spend years on a chain with such painful knees she could hardly lift her back to walk straight. So when she arrived in the UK we got Betty to the vets were she was diagnosed with serve Luxating Patella in both knees. Over the last year Betty has undergone 2 major surgeries to correct her knees. She has now finally completed her last surgery and is well on the way to a full recovery. During this time she has been to hydrotherapy once a week which has helped here correct the drop in her back (we will happily pay for hydrotherapy for Betty until she is fully recovered.)So it’s time to start looking for Betty’s forever home!Betty is one of the sweetest dogs we have met. Despite all she has been through she still looks to humans for comfort. She is however still nervous and jumpy which will improve with time and patience. But we do believe Betty has been left with a few mental scars from her past. Despite this she is the most wonderful friendly dog who is great with adults and children alike. She is a very quiet and calm dog who loves nothing more than a short walk and a cosy bed. She isn't demanding at all. Betty is currently living with multiple dogs. She has become good friends with some of the adult dogs. But a little nervous of erratic puppies in case they jump on her and hurt her legs. But with slow introductions Betty will be ok to live with another small dog. Betty although absolutely loves attention will never be a lap dog. She is more comfortable in her bed. She is house clean and crate trained. She enjoys short walks but will never be up to long hikes, someone who wants the company and isn't wanting big long walks would be ideal. Anyone who ends up adopting Betty will be extremely lucky. MY PERFECT HOME Betty will need a secure garden with 6ft fencing minimum and no gaps at all.As with all dogs on going training will be needed.Betty can live with dogs, cats and children 8+ OUR ADOPTION PROCESS 1 Fill in application form Please fill in the form as honestly as possible. About Betty

What life with Betty looks like

Betty is a small adult dog waiting at Angels 4 Dogs Rescue in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Betty, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Betty?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Angels 4 Dogs Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Betty on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Betty if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Angels 4 Dogs Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Betty already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Betty isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Angels 4 Dogs Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Betty and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
