Adopt Betty

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

During our project tour in late October 2025, of course, a visit to our partner animal shelter in Arzachena was on the agenda. We wanted to see some "old friends" again as well as meet the new arrivals. Upon entering the area for the new arrivals, the friendly but still somewhat shy Betty greeted us immediately in the large run. She had been found wandering aimlessly in the Campagna at the edge of Arzachena. We suspect she was deemed unsuitable for hunting due to her shyness. Apparently, they didn't want to burden the upcoming hunting season with an unnecessary dog. Therefore, she was released and left to her fate. In the kennel, Betty is certainly safe and well cared for. Betty is very loving, friendly, and gets along well. She gets along famously with the other dogs that are allowed to run free (mostly Bubu and Arlo). She also enjoys cuddles and treats. For Betty, we now wish for the opportunity to travel to Germany. Here, she should find loving people who appreciate her friendly nature and let her participate in all family activities. Would you like to give the loving Betty her dream home forever? March 28, 2026: Betty was allowed to travel to her German foster home. April 2, 2026: The loving Betty has opened up quickly in her foster placement and shows herself to be a loving, affectionate female dog. She greets her foster mom in the morning wagging her tail joyfully and is overjoyed by the cuddles. She can't get enough of them. Betty is house-trained, friendly, and gets along well with the cats in the household. She simply ignores the other dogs. Currently, Betty is still overweight. Since she likes to move around, the excess pounds will surely melt away soon. The pretty female dog is interested in her surroundings, and sometimes she reacts fearfully to new situations. Betty is a very compatible female dog and gets along famously with the fellow animals in the foster home. For Betty, we are looking for a sensitive, loving family that lives as landlein as possible and wants to show Betty the beautiful sides of dog life. If you are interested in the friendly Betty and are aware that adoption means not just joy but also work and responsibility for a happy and hopefully long dog life, we look forward to your message. We provide nationwide support. This animal can be anxious in unfamiliar situations.

About Betty

What life with Betty looks like

Betty is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Betty, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Betty?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Betty on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Betty if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Betty already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Betty isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Betty and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
