Betyar-9

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 12 years

Native Country: Hungary And the next senior dog, Betyar, who found himself in the shelter. Betyar was found homeless in the community of Pilis on November 14, 2025, and brought to the animal shelter in Kecskemét. During the microchip check, they struck gold, the owners were informed, but they never came to the shelter to take Betyar home, leaving him to wait in vain. Simply sad… But perhaps it’s better for Betyar, because he probably didn’t mean much to them, otherwise, they wouldn’t have left him so cowardly. We cross our fingers for Betyar that he will soon find people who take him seriously and give him a dignified old age. Betyar likely only lived as a farm dog and didn’t get to know much. His new people should therefore be ready to introduce him gradually to the everyday things of life, step by step, as he is actually curious about the world outside. It’s usually the case with older masters that the demands on physical activities are not as high, but the affectionate attention is enjoyed even more, and he has a lot of catching up to do and doesn’t want to miss cuddles ever again. Old, male, large, and with dark fur, all points that make it not easy to find Betyar a loving home quickly. People are needed who have a big heart for older dogs and see what a jackpot Betyar is, because he can really score with the following adjectives: friendly, beautiful, lovable, modest, optimistic, open, grateful, loyal, and with his heart in the right place. Betyar gets along well with his fellow animals and is currently (December 30, 2025) integrated into a mixed pack. We urgently seek enthusiastic dog lovers who also give a senior dog a chance. Betyar shouldn’t have to live in a kennel but should be able to call a soft dog bed his own, get lots of cuddles and snuggles, take beautiful walks through the woods and fields, and simply enjoy his life, knowing that he is loved and cared for, probably for the first time in his life. Whose heart can Betyar give? Betyar will not be neutered due to his age. Medical Update: February 23, 2026: Unfortunately, Betyar is positive for heartworm, and the slow kill therapy has begun. Betyar is ready for travel.

About Betyar-9

What life with Betyar-9 looks like

Betyar-9 is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Betyar-9, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Betyar-9?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Betyar-9 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Betyar-9 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Betyar-9 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Betyar-9 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Betyar-9 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
