Bibob

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 13 years

The lovely male dog Bibob had to move into the animal shelter with great reluctance after his beloved owner became so ill that she could no longer care for him. For Bibob, the world has fallen apart - he suffers greatly from the situation, cries a lot and especially misses the closeness of a human. However, as soon as he has visitors or goes for a walk, Bibob shows his wonderful side: Then he really comes to life, plays around, is enthusiastic and, despite his impressive size, is surprisingly fit on the leash. The big cuddly bear enjoys every moment. Bibob initially needs a little time to trust strangers. But once the ice is broken, there's no stopping him: With his gentle 50 kilograms, he jumps around joyfully like a kangaroo and is happy about any attention. Bibob travels easily in a car, is house-trained and generally gets along well with other animals. He sometimes shows excessive interest in female dogs and neutered male dogs, but can be corrected very well and reliably follows clear commands. We are urgently looking for a loving home for Bibob, where he can spend his golden years in peace, security, and with lots of affection. Due to his size and weight, he should ideally live on ground level, as stairs are not ideal for him in the long term. Children in the household should be teenagers. Even motivated beginners can handle this big teddy bear well. The only important thing is that his people give him time and he doesn't have to be left alone for long periods. Bibob is not used to being alone at all and has great difficulties with separation from his trusted people even in the animal shelter. Who will give this special senior a warm dog bed and lots of love once again?

DE·Show original

About Bibob

What life with Bibob looks like

Bibob is a extra-large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Bonn in Bonn.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bibob, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bibob?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Bonn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bibob on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bibob if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Bonn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bibob already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bibob isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Bonn early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bibob and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
