Biene

adoption requirements adoption process Request this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Request this dog now! Biene is likely one of the quietest and saddest female dogs at the Public Shelter in Baia Mare. She has lived there for over four years—four years of noise, confinement, and uncertainty. When she arrived at the shelter, she was frightened, shy, and mistrustful of everyone. Today, she still sits withdrawn in her kennel, lacking confidence, as if she has given up all hope. Biene cannot be touched and barely dares to leave her kennel. She retreats to the corners and clearly shows that she does not want any contact. Her behavior speaks of deep insecurity and disappointment—likely from experiences that have shown her that closeness does not mean anything good. What she endured in her previous life, we do not know. But it is easy to imagine that she has had little affection, security, or kindness. And yet, there are small signs that give hope. Slowly, Biene begins to venture out of her hut. With treats, she has now allowed herself to be lured a little. These small steps may seem insignificant, but for a dog like Biene, they are a significant progress. She is compatible with male dogs, but her compatibility with female dogs has not yet been tested. Biene is a beautiful female dog with dense brown-black fur. She is about 4 years old and roughly 55 cm tall. Her large, light-brown eyes still look suspiciously into the world—but there is still hope in them that her life might change. One can imagine how her eyes might become softer over time if she finally experiences affection, good food, movement in nature, and a quiet, safe environment. Biene has probably never lived in a home. Leash, harness, house training, or everyday routines are completely foreign to her. All of this she will only learn if she first builds trust. But with patience, calmness, and reliable people by her side, she can learn step by step what it means to live in safety. For Biene, we are looking for very special people: dog-experienced, calm, and empathetic adopters who will pick her up where she is—without expectations, without pressure. People who are willing to give her time and space and let her open up at her own pace. A quiet home in the countryside with a securely fenced yard would be ideal for Biene. Biene does not need quick success. She needs people who will stay. People who believe in her and show her that it is worth building trust again. After over four years of waiting, it would be her greatest joy to finally arrive. Biene can be neutered, microchipped, dewormed, and treated for fleas and travel to her new home with an EU pet passport. She will be traveling to her new home after a positive health check. We are grateful to the namesake Monika W., who chose Biene's name and thus gave her a unique identity. As of: 13.02.2026 adoption requirements adoption process Request this dog now!

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen!

About Biene

What life with Biene looks like

Biene is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Biene, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Biene?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Biene on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Biene if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Biene already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Biene isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Biene and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
