Bilbo

Female · Adult · 6 years

This is Bilbo - a charming, happy and energetic boy in his best young dog time. He came to us with his littermates and had not yet experienced much of the world. Despite this, he now meets new environments and experiences with a wonderful combination of curiosity, joie de vivre and courage. Bilbo takes on life with his tail wagging and a positive attitude that infects everyone around him. Bilbo is a very social dog who likes to be part of family life. He enjoys companionship and seeks contact with his people, both for play, adventure and cozy moments. He is a loving boy who likes to be close when the day starts to wane. He is very sweet-motivated and responsive, which is very helpful in dog meetings that sometimes make him excited. Then he can start spinning on the leash and use his fine "house barking voice". He is easy to anticipate and divert. Bilbo is a completely fantastic and uncomplicated dog who functions just like any young dog, despite not having many experiences before coming to us. He is confident in handling and takes veterinary visits with a kick. He has a friendly way and is curious about people and his surroundings, which makes him a nice companion in many different situations. He is a mixed breed of short-haired Collie and polar dog. This means that he is a dog in great need of physical activity and therefore wants to end up in a home where physical movement such as running, hiking or maybe skiing is already an integral part of life.

SV·Show original

About Bilbo

What life with Bilbo looks like

Bilbo is a large adult dog waiting at Hundstallet in Stockholm.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇸🇪Adopting from Sweden

Swedish shelters require an adoption application and home visit. Animals are chipped, vaccinated, and sterilized. Cross-border placements within the EU use the standard pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bilbo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bilbo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundstallet handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bilbo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bilbo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundstallet will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bilbo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bilbo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundstallet early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bilbo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (SV). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
