Support and Health Do I have any medical conditions? None Billie has a full bill of health. Who I can live with Can I live with dogs? Yes Can I live with cats? Yes Can I live with small pets? Yes Additional information Like other small pets, they should be kept safely away from other animals in the home. As prey animals, they may feel threatened by the presence of other species such as cats and dogs. Family and environment What kind of family am I looking for? Billie is looking for a more experienced family, she can become quite timid at times and get a bit worried with handling. We are sure when she has some confident rats around her she will soon learn to trust more. What type of environment would suit me? Rats are highly intelligent and active animals that need plenty of space to climb, explore and play. For a group of 3-4 rats, a suitable enclosure should measure at least 80cm wide, 50cm deep and 80cm high, with bar spacing no larger than 1cm. Providing enrichment is just as important as the cage size – rats need a stimulating environment to keep them happy and engaged. They also require opportunities for exercise and exploration daily outside of their cage. Discover the perfect care tips for rats in our care guide: About Billie Meet Billie, she has been looking for a home for over 200 days! Billie is a sweet natured girl who is looking for her new home with some new rats to snuggle with. After recently losing her two sisters, she is feeling a little lost and has become quite reserved. Billie loves her free range time, where she has so much fun exploring all the different enrichment and bobbing for peas in water. She does find handling a bit scary, and can get spooked with this. Once she is out of her cage she is a wonder to hold and will brux and eye boggle with some gentle scratches around her ears, showing a very sweet personality. If you have some rats who would love to fit Billie in their group, please do get in contact with us via the website. Things to note Do you have a single rat who is looking for a companion? Or a group looking for new friends? As well as rehoming bonded pairs or groups, we can help to find companions for single rats too. We offer an onsite mixing service and can also provide you with ongoing support if you choose to mix at home instead. To find out more about our mixing service;

About Billie

What life with Billie looks like

Billie is a small young adult animal waiting at Woodgreen Pets Charity in United Kingdom.

Every animal has their own temperament and history. The shelter knows Billie far better than any listing can convey — ask about daily routine, ideal household, and what kind of adopter they're hoping for.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Billie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Billie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Woodgreen Pets Charity handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Billie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Billie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Woodgreen Pets Charity will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Billie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Billie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Woodgreen Pets Charity early rather than rehoming privately; they know Billie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
